I’m having fun with some Czech blondes. Nothing special really, just a nice beer to drink while catching up on Car SOS.

Just a strange Rye Whiskey and perhaps a splash of ginger ale.

Nothing special? Budvar is an excellent bottled lager. I’m on Radgie Gadgie, a colloquialism meaning ‘grumpy bloke’, from a local brewery.

By “nothing special” I meant that you can get it almost anywhere and it’s not expensive or so.
The grumpy bloke seems interesting. What would it be filed under, Lager, Dark, ... ?

I’m having fun with some Czech blondes.
I hope they don’t kick you in the Pils.

Well, as long as they don’t run away with everything in my Lager.

Trying out this orange IPA from a local brewery. 7.2% ABV. It’s pretty good, very citrusy.
Also, my new front brakes in the background.

A medium ale, touted as a bitter but slightly sweet in taste. It’s a good beer, if a little out of fashion around these parts now, really good if you've got friends round as it seems to satisfy almost everyone.

König Pilsener. It’s my regular beer. Not the greatest, but still quite good. I get it in the .5L cans, but you have to pour it for best flavor. I don’t think I’ve ever drunk one out of the can.

Of course you are not drinking it out of the can. You are not an aminal!
Fun fact: They wanted to get rid of cans and similar disposable containers so they mandated a € 0.25 deposit on all of them. So we can’t crush empty beer cans or shoot them or whatever...

Back in 1998 or 1999, we took a trip to Denmark (my wife’s grandmother came from Copenhagen, and her grandfather was from Viborg, Sweden). We toured the Carlsberg factory, and I told the tour guide that we were going to Sweden the next day and asked her what beer I should drink in Sweden. She said that there was no good beer in Sweden. As we crossed over on the ferry, there were many people with hand carts loaded with Danish beer heading over to Sweden. On the ride back, the same number of people had carts full of empty bottles taking them back to Denmark. So perhaps the guide was right.
I drank a lot of Carlsberg on that trip, as well as Tuborg, which I preferred. When we got back to the States, I found some Carlsberg in the store and bought it. After the first swig, I realized that something was indeed rotten in the state of Denmark. The beer tasted nothing at all like I remembered. Upon close inspection of the label, I read, “Brewed and bottled under authority of Carlsberg by Labatt’s Brewery in Canada.” Which proves that you can use all the same ingredients, but with different water it’s an entirely different beer.

Yes, and yes, water is an important part of it. Coffee drink will notice that when they bring their usual stuff to a holiday location.
As to that Scandinavian alcohol tourism: One of the supermarkets on my island offers tax-free, and more importantly deposit-free, lumps of canned beer. They have signs saying that they don’t sell that stuff to locals. I have to take a picture tomorrow.

Nothing classes up a gathering like 40oz of a Fine Malt Liquor. And I will be classing it up tonight.
